My Story:
I’m a 7th-generation Kentuckian, born and raised in the heart of the Bluegrass. Growing up, my large extended family showed me a sparkling spectrum of ways to be alive. This was a rock-solid foundation for being able to engage with difference. When a stubborn hunger for challenge and newness pulled me beyond Kentucky's borders, I first ventured to Santa Fe, NM. There I attended one of the most rigorous liberal arts schools in the U.S., St. John’s College.
From New Mexico, I went on to Washington D.C. then Europe; Houston, TX; Madison, WI; and eventually back to the Bluegrass. I worked in the trades, the service industry, and business. These wide-ranging opportunities gave me a chance to experiment, to learn, to discover what’s unique and what’s shared across different industries. In Louisville, I chose to pursue a Master’s in Urban Planning because I wanted to explore the connection between people’s values and the places they make.
I enjoy talking with strangers. I am always asking “Why?” and elevating complexity. I love to get started, to carry conversation into action, to help others grow and change their thinking.
Using Socratic dialogue, my peers and I tackled the most challenging thinkers in western culture, digging deep into the history of philosophy, literature, math, and science.
For fun I like to...
